Reflecting on ICBC, our favourite event to date
October 17, 2019
With so many cannabis trade shows and conferences happening in the industry right now, at times, it can feel like we’re approaching what you might call, “event fatigue”. But not all of these events are equal, and we’re slowly learning what works best when it comes to connecting industry members in a productive yet fun way. We’re still coming down from the high after one in particular: the International Cannabis Business Conference (ICBC), which hit the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver on September 15 and 16.
Pasha Brands was proud to be a lead exhibitor and sponsor at the renowned networking event for the first time, where some of the world’s best and brightest cannabis enthusiasts joined us for two full days of engaging discussion on policy, business, investments, science and technology, health, and more (not to mention a few excellent parties and opportunities to connect).
Being the first ICBC in Vancouver since cannabis was legalized in Canada almost one year ago, the event attracted industry experts and attendees from 24 different countries around the world, and provided both Canadians and visitors with the chance to really wrap their minds around the intricacies of legalization. Attendees were also given a chance to learn from American experts like Lori Ajax, the Chief of the California Bureau of Cannabis Control, who provided insight into the state’s unique approach to legalization, and John Salley, four-time NBA Champion and Deuces 22 co-founder, who discussed creating a premium brand with his daughter, Tyla.
Pasha’s own experts also took part in several panel discussions, with our Chief Communications and Culture Officer, Jamie Shaw, leading an engaging discussion with Ajax to kick off Monday’s panels. Executive Chairmann Patrick Brauckmann took to the stage to discuss mergers and acquisitions, while our Chief Science Officer, Dr. Brigitte Simons, moderated an afternoon panel on extraction science and technology.
Off-stage, our incredible event staff manned what many communicated to us was the most beautiful booth on the entire conference floor. Custom-made out of cedar, we were excited to provide attendees with a booth experience that not only looked sharp; it represented our roots in British Columbia and our connection to craft in a tangible way. Check it out in the images below.
Many thanks to all ICBC guests, the Pasha family, and our international visitors to making ICBC 2019 an event we won’t soon be forgetting.
